Collin is growing up so unbeleivable fast. We've been giving him little toddler utensils to try out. The other day I looked over and he was helping himself to some Split Pea Soup with a spoon. Yogurt seems to be a little more difficult since it's runny. He gets the idea of the fork and uses it a while, until he gets bored and then dives in with his hands. I found him standing on the coffee table one day, he had such a look of accomplishment I felt really bad for telling him not to do it anymore. Now, he's able to climb onto the sofa...patio chairs...in and up cabnets...I'm really in for it.

My friend Adina suggested I try introducing a potty to him since he seems to be getting so independant. I thought for pete's sake he can't even pull down his pants how will he use the toilet? But she suggested I have one in the bathroom to see if I can get him to sit on it while I go, and introduce the word 'potty'. Guess it couldn't hurt. Wouldn't that be something? Weaned and potty trained before 18mo's ?! Nah, he can't be that grown up yet, he's still my little baby!
The day of my birthday was a bit of a bust. Vicki drove down from Reno to visit for a whole week and ended up having to drive home early because both of our kids got sick.

But I got what I really wanted for my birthday from my family. I got the entire collection of Gretta Garbo movies, including her silent films which are my favorite. I've been watching them as often as Mike lets me (which is about every other night

).
Our financial problems have finally come to a head, and now every collector and their mother is wanting money from us. We're doing okay though. I'm getting really good at making our money stretch when it comes to groceries, I spend under $70/week now. Lots of pasta w/ lentils and split pea soup, got to love leftovers. The big bummer is unfortunately we're going to have to turn off some of our 'luxory' utilities, like cable and internet. Which means more Gretta Garbo movies and knitting projects for me during the day. Too bad we live in the desert though, I'll have to mail all my finished knits to you people in Iowa. Well, so I won't be online very often but I'll be able to check my e-mail and update this site once in a while from Mom's house. Hope everyone's having a good summer.
