Shawna: My goodness, I haveent been on bravenet in such a long time, I forgot about it when I discovered myspace, looks like I looked you up at the right time CONGRATS!!! I missed you so I had to see if you still posted here, glad I did. Take care, Love Shawna
Lainey B: Happy New Year Congratulations on your good news. I am just back from Scotland where I saw the latest addition to the Family Teaghan She is so beautiful. I am sure baby Sorvillo will be too if Colin is anything to go by - and his very handsome parents All the best for 2007Love Lainey B x
Sarah: Lol. You're so funny Helen, don't worry I knew what you meant. We have Xmas Eve plans but none for Xmas day. So, just tell us what your plans are and we'll come. Love you!
GH: Hi. Re-read my message. Looks like I meant he won't love James Dean dvds, just the video I got him. That's not what I meant at all. Just meant I got him a different one. That's what happens when you write in this stupid Bridget Jones Diary shorthand! He'll love ALL his dvds! Gotta go, GH
GH: Hi, Guys. Got you some midwife stuff before I even read your message, Sarah! Also got Mike a dvd I know he loves, not James Dean. Hope he doesn't already have. Got Collin a Lego/Duplo train set. Now all I need is to put up a tree, lights, wreath, Xmas cards, stockings, etc. I've become a Grinch in my old age. Let me know your Xmas plans. Love you all, GH
Carmen: Ixnay the James Dean movies for Michael - already got them for him.
Heather: How awesome!!! happy belated halloween. talk to you soon :)
GH: Hey, guys! I still can't figure out how to use all the features on my cell phone, including emptying the voicemail, so don't think I've been ignoring you; I've just been my usual technophobic self. I don't have Mike's cell phone number since Paul switched jobs and had to hand in his phone. Mine is still 513-5441. Give me a call; let's get together; I have socks for Collin (what an enticement!) love you, GH
Sarah: Hey Shawna, glad to hear things are looking up. Yea, sometimes men need a reality check. Can't say a trip out of town isn't nice anyhow?
Shawna: Hey, I just got back from 2 weeks at my moms in CA, she came and got me because the tension was too thick in this house. Things are much more calm now so far, and Mike seems to want to be more active in helping with Sean. I guess not being able to see him all the time did the trick, he also seems to understand that when you have a sick baby that wants to nurse constantly, some chores are left undone. Anyway, I love you and will call soon.
Shawna: Hey finally got the pics in, but I should also have lots more in the next couple days, I'm picking some up today from our trip to cleveland, I tell about it in my blog, love ya girlie.
Shawna: Hey girlie, sorry long time no post. Things have been hellacious in my house, Sean is pure joy, but I cant say the same for his father, lol. Anyway, my name should link you to my page, if not, it's monkeygirl.bravejournal.com. I havent uploaded the new pics of Sean to photobucket yet, but theyre on my pc and marked so I'm getting closer, lol. Anyway Miss you much. Shawna
Sarah: Hey woman, I need a link to your journal again. My internet is down, so I have to check my mail at my Mom's. So, I don't have my Favorites list.
Shawna: Glad to see your hairs back to blonde, it does suit you better. You look like youve lost some weight, myself, I lost my butt, I dont know where it went but elastic band pants wont stay up anymore :( If your wondering why I havent come out yet, the ac went out on the truck, and I love you but, not that much, lol. ttyl. Shawna
Sarah: If the pics end up too big on Photobucket, click on the Slideshow button.
Shawna: He's growing so fast! Glad to hear youre mobile again. I'll have to try that tylenol at night bit, Sean hasnt been letting me get any sleep lately, but somehow, I'm managing to be pleasant durring the day, lol. I wish you the best of luck with your GED, with your smarts youll have no problem getting it. I love the haircut, Cici and I decided Seans first will be a mohawk, lol, although I dont think his heads the right shape for it. Anyway I love you lots. Shawna
GH: I'm so glad you've got wheels; that was nice of Paula and her mom. I read an article about fast-setting concrete that I wanted to send you for Michael. Here's the link: http://www.slate.com/id/2141629/?nav=tap3Happy Mother's Day, I'm sure Michael told you I have my training Saturday and won't be home til Sunday around noon, but we can celebrate next week. Love you all, Grannie Hellie
Shawna: I think I'm going to be getting my car back on the road again, we lost so much money with the deli that we are getting a great tax refund, and I'm going to be adiment about getting my own car back, especially with his mom home now, she's driving me nuts!!!! So I hope to call and see you soon.
Shawna: Hey momma, well as Collin did, Sean is cutting his first tooth very early so you know the fun I'm having, he bit me for the first time today, lol, that ended that feeding . I was wondering, how much notice do you need if I were to come over, as lately, I cant count on anything go my way long enough to plan a trip, I jump when I can, the only schedule I have is picking Cici up at 3:30 from school, whats your schedule?
Elaine: Love the hair as they say in Sconnie Botland Bonnie folk suit onythin' Ask Granny Hellie for translation.love E
Shawna: Thank you so much for posting that pic, I needed a great laugh after my day, in all honesty though, I like it .
Shawna: I just looked at the new pics and I have to say, motherhood is a part of you, it's who you were meant to be, there is a peace and happiness that shines through your eyes when your with Collin, a joy I didnt see before. Congratulations mommy.
Missie: Hey! I'm jealous of all your outdoor pics! We've been stuck inside since November! Collin is getting so big! Great to hear about the play dates! Should be a lot of fun. I need to see if there are any I would be interested in around here. Sounds like things are going better for you guys! Excellent!! Hope to visit with you sometime soon. gtg Love Ya!
Shawna: Sorry I havent gotten a hold of you but Sean has been cholicy lately, I fully agree with you on being an adult. If things dont smooth out here soon I'm going to lose it, I mean if Cholic werent bad enough Mike and Cici are hating each other lately so I get to listen to them complain all day as well as Sean every 20 minutes . I will try to get a hold of you soon if I can, hang in there.
GH: Sarah, I do feel for you guys so. I wish I could help you more. Here is something that may at least make you laugh: apparently even the US Govt. can't cover all its bills: http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/03/14/060314155502.5zgxciv2.html Hope to see you this Saturday for my St. Patrick's/Birthday. Lots of love, GH
Michelle: I know how you fell! Love You and am praying for you guys!
Shawna: I called but you werent home and when Mike heard that he recruited me , but he's back to work now so maybe in the next few days after 4 if your free?
Sarah: Yay!!!! Nursing party!!!
Shawna: If my mom doesnt come up this weekend I'm gonna see if I can steal the truck and come see you. Love ya lots, Shawna
Shawna: Ok, call me blonde, but I didnt even realize till today that Collin is exactly 11 months older than Sean to the day. I wonder if theres something about the number 26, not to mention you went into labor at 9:30 pm, and Sean was born at 9:30 am. Oh Seans little bumm is all cleared up, turns out I think he's allergic t the hypallergenic wipes I was using, because the a&d didnt clear his bumm while I was using the wipes but now I just use a warm washclth to clean him and it cleared. If my mom deasnt
Shawna: Happy Birthday Collin!!! My how he's grown, it's hard to believe it's been a whole year since he was just a squirmy little worm like Sean, Congrats to you and Mike again on such a wonderful and beautiful baby.
Aunt Becky: I can't believe how big Colling is getting!! He is so cute and the picture of him with all the toilet paper is adorable. Hope he has a great first birthday. Give him a hug and kiss from me! Love ya
Sarah: I'm so happy it helped! It really is funny the stuff we end up talking about. Never in all my life did I think I would talk so much about poop!
Shawna: Thanks for telling me about the A&D ointment, it's really calmed down Seans rash, he's able to sleep comfortably and it doesnt hurt him as bad to poop and fart, lol, the things we discuss as mothers. I'm getting to where I could really use a break from the house but I have to find a day where Mike doesnt need the truck, but you'll be the first to know. ttyl
Shawna: I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, I'm glad you both are fine. I hope things get back to normal for you real soon. Sean and I are fine, Mikey convinced me to change the spelling of his name as Sean is the true Irish spelling (big whoop) I'll call you soon love Shawna
GH: Sarah, I'm so sorry about the accident, and the idiot that hit you. He deserves jail time! He could have really hurt you and Collin! I'm sorry about the car, too. I wish I was rich, so I could help you and all my kids and the little ones! Don't worry too much; things will get better. We all struggled when we were your and Mike's age (and look at the fabulous lives we have NOW!) Ha! But you know what I mean . . . the hard times don't last forever. I love you and I'm glad you're safe and well. Lov
Grannie Hellie: Again, thanks for the photos! They always make my day! What a little hambone he is. Looking more like Mike all the time! Hope to see you soon, miss you all, Love, GH
Shawna: Sarah thank you so much for offering to assist in my birth, I cant tell you how much it means to me, and how much more I'm looking forward to it knowing I'll have a friend there, thank you.
Grannie Hellie: Great photos! I'm glad you're back safe. I'm also glad to see the sweater and hat I got him finally fit! I'll have to make another trip to the Grandma's Place, uh, I mean the "Children's Place," soon. That place is like Kentucky Fried Chicken for grandmothers! Love to all, see you soonGH
Shawna: Well I'm still pregnant. I'm glad you had a nice trip, it's so important to be able to get out once in a while. Colling looks so precious in that pic. take care
Sarah: How funny! He had a sign that said he's been doing it for like 20 years.
Carmen: My pal, Mike &I saw the same guy in '93. We were in a music club across the street and laughed & laughed as he jumped out at unsuspecting tourists. I had no idea that he was a regular feature of the wharf.
Shawna: That did the trick Sarah thanks, no more fatty feet. Well everyone at Mikeys work thinks I'm going to have the baby any day now so I'll keep you posted, I go see Margie today, hopefully she'll tell me I'm making progress . hopefully we can get together for one of those nursing parties after he arrives as I'm not getting out much anymore and I'd love to see you and Collin again, take care sweety.
Shawna: Thank you I'll try that. Let me just say that picture is so beautiful, I dont think I've ever seen so much serenity in your face, and Collin, he looks so sweet, and most importantly happy, keep up the great work.
Sarah: Yes! My ankles swelled up terribly. Try to eliminate as much salt and caffeine as you can and drink lots of water. Other than that just keep your feet elevated.
Shawna: hey Sarah, did your feet and ankles swell at the end, I've gone beyond cankles, and my mom thinks I should ask Margie if I might be retaining water, but they go down when I'm sleeping, what do you think?
Grannie Hellie: Great photos! He's certainly coming along quickly! Looking forward to seeing you this weekend; lots of love, GH
Shawna: Thanks for having me over hon, it was so nice to get out, and watch you with Collin, not to mention a learning experience as I'm getting so nervous about how a boy. About the sleep habbit's, do what YOU feel is right, you cant spoil him at this age, and you know him better than any1 else, tend to him as long as you can, they grow up way to fast.
Missie: Just read Carmen's comment. Sounds like some great advice! You should take her up on that baby sitting offer!
Missie: Every baby is different. Ryan still gets up between 1 & 4 times a night for some milk. I'm able to give him a bottle and he's fine. I thought he would be sleeping through the night by now, but he isn't. Follow your instincts, they are only little once. You are a great mom and will do what is best for that little one. Well, Ryan is destroying the office so I better get going. Love Ya!

A Little Update

  • Mood:
Well, I'm 23weeks along.  So, I'm about 5 months I guess.  A little past the halfway mark.  I'm feeling good.  No worries.  I've had a struggle with my hypoglycemia again, just like I did when I was pregnant with Collin.  I just have to eat a rediculous amount of protein.  Around 150grams to be exact, oy.  I'm so tired of cottage cheese and nuts I could puke, lol.  But I've been good about my diet, I've only gained 14lbs so far, which is half of what I gained with Collin by this time.  I think staying at home definately helps.  I also just got done with my Human Growth and Development class and I aced it. Yay! I do think I'm going to wait until next year to take all my anatomy courses though.  So, I can focus on my midwife studies the rest of this year.  My friend Adina recently came down to visit with her sister Naomi and Naomi took some wonderful pictures of me for her portfolio.  You can see the album by going to the address below.

Hmmmmm...I wonder what this means?

  • Mood:

Yes, it seems I may indeed be pregnant again!  I was wondering why I kept wanting to eat like a horse and have been feeling fatigued.  I figured it was period coming on.  But when that didn't show up, I took a pregnancy test.  Yay!    What a way to start off the New Year!!  So my new due date according to Baby Center.com is September 7th.  We are so excited!

What We Want For Christmas

  • Mood:
So, the question has come up.  What do all of us want for Christmas?  Well, Collin needs some age appropriate toys.  He's outgrown his table of lights and jingles and wants to move on to 2yr old toys.  He loves the little play kitchen that Sara gave him.  He also needs clothes of course.

Mike says he wants a bunch of movies or a gaelic language book.  His movie interests are anything with James Dean in them.  He also likes all the Die Hards.  We used to have them all on VHS but now we only own a DVD player.  Oh! 32, 32 pants and he wears a size 9 shoe if you want to get him workboots.

What do I want for Christmas?  Well, I always like silver jewelry and candles. But if you'd like to get me something I need, there is always the Amazon Wishlist.  It has a list of the Midwife text books I need. They range from $10- $80.  I'm also still hoping to get The Scot-Irish Cookbook. Now, if you are fealing REALLY generous...there is a Midwife Intro Class I really really want to take, but it's a little pricey. About $353 to be exact.  There's no way we can raise that kind of dough, so if anyone just so happens to have that much, or just happened to win a royal at Eldorado Casino, *coughs*, I would be very VERY appreciative.

Hope everyone has a HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Growing Up

  • Mood:

So, everyone has been doing pretty good.  I am currently sick, but it's not too bad.  Just some cough and a fever.  Luckily no one else has gotten sick.  I'm a little bummed to be sick because I have a few pregnant women I could be seeing right now.  I recently started advertising myself as free birth support and I've received some feedback from it.  Margie (midwife) comes back into town in January, and she said I could sit in on some prenatals as well.  Very excited about that.

Collin is doing great.  He amazes us all the time.  He loves getting involved in everything and doing it himself.  He's quite the little chef and enjoys cracking eggs and watches us cook while standing on a chair.  He's also in love with my iPod.  As you see in this picture, he's discovered how the earphones work and loves listening to music.  He's also started to try jumping, which is quite comical.

Everyone else is doing great.  Mike's job is still doing really well, and Sara's monthly rent has really been helping us out.  I just updated out Photobucket account so make sure to check out all of Collin's photos.  There wasn't anything uploaded past 15 months so there's a lot to look at.  Well I hope everyone is having a good week!

Happy Halloween!

  • Mood:
I hope everyone had a fun Halloween!  We've been doing pretty good.  To help with our finances, our friend Sara moved in and it's working out quite well.  She helps out a lot with cleaning and watching Collin and she also fancies my cousin Cody, he he.  I just recently got done with my GED prep class.  So, now I'm a lot more confident that I can pass the test.  I'm doing good on the Doula work as well.  I've read 2 of my five books and would probably be further if I could stop myself from playing Warcraft on the computer.  I just have to budget my time better.  I still have one book to order that's $50, it's my professional's breastfeeding book.  I can't wait to read that one.  Collin is doing great, and growing like a weed.  He's quite vocal and tries to repeat absolutely everything.  He's also very independant and has to do everything himself.  A funny little thing he's lately is start to like salad.  Very odd, we went to Mike's Dad's house for a Halloween pizza dinner and he wanted nothing to do with the pizza and everything to do with the salad!  He ate an entire plate of it, then wanted the bowl! Crazy boy...guess I should be thankfull though.  Now I just have to get him to eat spinach and I will truly be amazed.  I swear I have a little vegitarian on my hands.  The only meat he'll eat is some form of hotdog or sausage...not sure if that counts as meat.  He loves tomatoes and beans though, so I don't really worry about him getting enough iron.  He's also a big fan of the Italian Baked Tofu I get at the store.  Strange I never thought a kid would be a vegitarian if they were'nt raised that way.  He's also popped out two more teeth and has been using the toilet pretty frequently.  I'm guessing potty training won't be too hard, he seems to like it a lot.

Anyway, so Sara bought us cable and an internet hookup.  So, I'll be posting more often now.  Can't wait to hear from you all! O, and check out our Halloween slideshow, Collin got to help with the pumpkin.  Just in case you can't see the slideshow below, here's a link to the photo album:

Hello!!!

  • Mood:
Sorry I haven't posted in quite a while.  We're still paying off bills and so our internet connection will remain off until they're settled.  Which might be some time.  Mike and I are doing very well.  Mike's job has kept their word about giving him his 40 hours.  I'm actually in the middle of studying for two different things.  I'm currently studying for my GED so I can finally get that overwith.  I got a GED study guide that's like a million pages long, arrgh.  But we've been having fun with the history portion, Mike is quite the history buff.  Once that's taken care of I'll be going back to work.  I'm going to apply at some local hospitals doing the same admissions work I used to do.  It pays well.  I'm also studying to get certified as a Doula/Birth Assistant.  My ultimate goal being a midwife, but a birth assistant gets me experience with labor and birth, and I get paid while I'm doing it.  The average pay for a Doula here in town, is around 4 - $500 a patient.  Most Doula's see two or more patients a month.  Not bad!  The bulk of the money needed to get certified is all in the books. They have a required reading list that will take a while for me to afford.  I did, however, make a wishlist in case anyone is feeling charitable, *wink wink*.

Collin is doing great and is driving us crazy with poking our faces while he tells us the names of our parts.  He's also obsessed with the movied Milo & Otis, which is about a dog and cat on a farm.  He talks pretty well but he mostly repeats words you say at that moment.  He's quite the little cutie still and lucky we haven't had any more teeth come in.  He just got over a sinus infection but that's all done with.  So, it's smooth sailing with him for a while at least. Last night my mom watched him for the entire night.  We saw a bunch of friends at the bar and it was just like old times. I laughed and smiled so much my cheeks hurt.  Well, that's about all I can think of right now.  I talk to most of you so this is just a little update.

Love you guys!

What we've been up to.

  • Mood:

Click the links below for slideshows of the photo albums.

Joshua's Graduation

5th Wedding Anniversary

Father's Day

************************************************

Collin is growing up so unbeleivable fast.  We've been giving him little toddler utensils to try out. The other day I looked over and he was helping himself to some Split Pea Soup with a spoon.  Yogurt seems to be a little more difficult since it's runny.  He gets the idea of the fork and uses it a while, until he gets bored and then dives in with his hands.  I found him standing on the coffee table one day, he had such a look of accomplishment I felt really bad for telling him not to do it anymore. Now, he's able to climb onto the sofa...patio chairs...in and up cabnets...I'm really in for it.    My friend Adina suggested I try introducing a potty to him since he seems to be getting so independant.  I thought for pete's sake he can't even pull down his pants how will he use the toilet?  But she suggested I have one in the bathroom to see if I can get him to sit on it while I go, and introduce the word 'potty'.  Guess it couldn't hurt.  Wouldn't that be something? Weaned and potty trained before 18mo's ?!  Nah, he can't be that grown up yet, he's still my little baby!

The day of my birthday was a bit of a bust.  Vicki drove down from Reno to visit for a whole week and ended up having to drive home early because both of our kids got sick.  But I got what I really wanted for my birthday from my family.  I got the entire collection of Gretta Garbo movies, including her silent films which are my favorite.  I've been watching them as often as Mike lets me (which is about every other night).

Our financial problems have finally come to a head, and now every collector and their mother is wanting money from us.  We're doing okay though.  I'm getting really good at making our money stretch when it comes to groceries, I spend under $70/week now.  Lots of pasta w/ lentils and split pea soup, got to love leftovers.  The big bummer is unfortunately we're going to have to turn off some of our 'luxory' utilities, like cable and internet.  Which means more Gretta Garbo movies and knitting projects for me during the day.  Too bad we live in the desert though, I'll have to mail all my finished knits to you people in Iowa.  Well, so I won't be online very often but I'll be able to check my e-mail and update this site once in a while from Mom's house.  Hope everyone's having a good summer.

Fun Times

Click here for 15 Month pictures.

Click here for Mother's Day pictures.

Click here for pictures of Jessica's trip.

***

Sorry, it's been sooo long since I've updated this thing.  We had lots of fun on Mother's Day.  I got lots of Bath & Body stuff and some jewelry from Gram.  We been doing lots of swimming and visiting with family.  Jessica just flew back to Oregon on Monday, but she was here for a week or so.  We went to Cafe de tute, and listened to some live entertainment.  There was a Frank Senatra singer and since the place wasn't busy he focused on wooing us, ha ha! He even danced for a bit with Jessica.  We also went to a juice bar which is how Collin got covered in Strawberry/Banana smoothie in this picture.  It was like we were old friends and we had a blast.  Not much else is going on.  Collin is still nursing since his last tooth refuses to surface!  But the good news is he knows when bedtime is he's gotten to the point where we can just lay him in his crib to go to sleep and he doesn't even cry for more than 5 minutes.  So, when he does ween this will make things so much easier!  Oh, and I got my hair done! I no longer look like a bottle of Tang exploded on my head, he he.  I'm back to my blonde and loving it.

Life is about to get a bit busier.  My best friend Vicki is coming into town next week and will be staying with us for a full week.  She's already told me her goal is to get tatooed and peirced before she goes back to Reno, ha ha!  Then in early July I'm going to be in Iowa for a family reunion for 4 days.  Then late July or early August I think, I'll be driving with Serenity to Colorodo give her Mom's ashes a final resting place.  Then! In September our apartment lease is up and we're not sure if we'll requalify to stay here, but here's hoping.  Otherwise we'll me moving....arrgh.

I'm almost ready to hunker down and start studying for my GED.  I finally got my car squared away and legalized, now I just have to deal with small claims court and attempt to sue the butt off the guy who hit me.  THEN! I'll be ready to study.  *whew*
